I have found it's helpful to ask each party one on one what their ideal outcome would be in a situation, while making it clear that compromise is critical and that likely no one will get everything that they want. By giving the participants a voice in the resolution, it is more likely that they will walk away feeling as though the outcome serves them in some way.

Follow up in the conflict resolution setting is more of an insurance policy you place to a negotiated agreement. Your job would be to assure and reassure your counterpart of your agreement in ways where both of you never backup from an agreement.

A helpful tip would include empathy in the assessment of the conflict and the comunication. Listen attentively to the other side, to understand and cocreate solutions together.
