I will start by understanding my boss's goals, i will communicate effectively, take initiative, and be reliable. Approach interactions with a positive attitude, be respectful of their time, and offer solutions. Understand their communication style, build a personal connection, support his/her vision, and adapt to changes. Lastly, I will acknowledge his/her support. These steps will lay a foundation for a positive and productive working relationship.

One thing that I found helpful in building a positive relationship with your boss is by respecting them, valuing their opinion, listening to them and doing what is asked of you. If your boss gives you a mile, don’t take the mile do what is asked, but don’t overreach. Always make sure that you are putting the work in and do it accurately.

I believe that this actually could hurt your relationship because it would make some people think that you were gunning for their job. I don’t see this as a positive to build a relationship relationship with your boss because you already show your competency and reliability by coming to work every day and getting a paycheck. I don’t think this is a proper way again to build a relationship, professionally or personally.

I have always said I will voice my opinion based on what I know and make recommendations accordingly. At the end of the day, if my boss says to do the opposite, then I will respect that. But I’m doing an injustice to my boss and company by not sharing my strategy/feedback/opinion based on my expertise. Communication is key!

So I’ve known my boss personally since around 2017. It’s now 2024, And even though I’ve only worked for my boss for the past nine months, I have grown our relationship and cultivated it to where my boss trust me, understands me and respects me, but at the end of the day, I know that I know my role. I know my place and I know how not to screw up. Being in property management is not an easy job you deal with peoples houses gonna be good days and bad days but if you have the right relationship with your boss, you will get a much more rewarding experience while at work my boss is a leader and innovator a great communicator and, strives and thrives on giving you what you need to excel your position and put you in line to be ready.
