EQ basics include understanding and managing your own emotions while recognizing those of others. Implement active listening and clear communication to create a supportive environment. Utilizing these EQ skills strengthens trust, collaboration, and overall team performance.

Something which helped me and I feel would leaders is we need to bring the win-win situations and bring the common success items view to deliveries. This helps all the parties involved in the delivery to get motivated to bring the best on to the table. In critical/difficult conversations always step back and observe for other point of view by being in the shoes of other parties will help bring the empathy to others and come up with more agreeable approaches while solving complex situations.

Each one of us has a need for respect by others. The very act of others to not listen, can be perceived as neglect, ignorance, not valued, not included, not wanted, outcast, bullied, arrogance and not respected. The response to such emotions can range from stress, sadness, disappointment, anger, or rage. Active listening can not only avoid triggering of such emotions, it can add to constructive dialogue leading to progress. Listening to find an opportunity to respond can be even worse. Active listening showcases genuine interest and develops trusted bonding.

Listening is the most important component of effective communication but yet the one where we all lag. Many of us believe we are very good listeners but the fact is we fare badly. During interactions we focus on formulating answers in our mind instead of getting the essence of what someone is communicating. Very often our conversation is directed to one upmanship which defeats the purpose. We need to listen carefully, it gives a respect to other person, helps establish trust and faith and elevates the relationship to the next level.

In a software team setting, a good starting point here is to clearly identify the problem that needs to be solved. Might be as simple as asking the question of the team rhetorically, and putting the answer on the whiteboard (real or virtual). This then creates a clear objective that can then be spoken to by the team. The leader can ask for high level options and add them to the board. Then flesh out steps in each option and ask for pros and cons for each. At every step,the focus is on the objective problem at hand not the individuals who may or may not have contributed to the problem. If done well, a safe environment is created for team members and all contributions can find a place. This facilities cohesion and energy to find the solution.

In today's fast paced environment, conflicts are bound to happen for varied reasons like schedule, project priorities, cost, adm procedures, resources, personalities, etc. What is important is to isolate conflict from the person so that we stay objective and unbiased. We need to step into other person's shoes and look at things from their perspective, what is it that is driving their thought process and how we can be empathetic to them and yet be objective for the best interests of the program. Conflict resolution becomes much more easy when you are empathetic and have a relationship which is built on trust and faith.

Take the team members with you. Show that you have understood the situation for each person. Create situations in examples where the members feel that they have been taken on board. This shows that you have noticed the people and understood the situation

Support each and every member of the team requires most of the time, be able to prioritize persons vs your own activities, or be some sort of genious of self-organization. not easy, but is the most rewarding feeling ive ever felt in my profesional pace. put the focus on persons will release the best of the team no doubt
