Clear objectives are crucial. Start by defining the discussion's purpose. Share these goals with the group. This helps everyone stay focused. Break down the main topic into subtopics. Prioritize these based on importance. Create a visible agenda for all to see. Use a timer to track progress. Let participants know the time frame upfront. This sets expectations. After introcuctions, lay the expections out so they cannot be misunderstood. "I'm going to speak in bullet point fashion & I need bullet point style comments/questions directed back to me. Next, give examples of "bullet point communication." Then, as an icebreaker for the audience, give them 3-minutes to practice bullet point communication with men & women around them.

I find this as highly important because some group members may caught up in their own world and keep on talking. It IS important for the facilitator to mention in the very beginning the discussion that due to time constraints, you will cut the conversation if their time is over. Also emphasize that it’s nothing personal and provide alternatives for them to provide more information, either at the end of the discussion(if time allows) or through email, etc.
