Need to have clarity about where the software is getting deployed- cloud or on premise. Which system will be the book of records. Example - S4H is the book of records for Finance - cost center and Success Factor is the book of records for employee data. So a new cost center created in S4H needs to be sent to SF while a new employee hired in SF should be sent to S4H for workflow, reporting needs .. So before we get into the technical aspect of integration we need to have clarity on the data objects / functionality
