It is very important to know that legacy systems are not replaced for a reason because of all the functionality it offers which evolved over years if not decades. However, change is the new constant in the IT industry and certain technologies come with risks involved and it becomes very difficult to implement features in legacy systems. For all good reason it should be migrated to newer a new technology stack. It should be done is carefully assessing the features /capabilities and risk should be measured for prioritizing. Best way to do it is to train same people who worked on legacy system into new tech stack and actively involve them in development tasks with new people to help them in achieving the goals.
