As a recruiter I don't ask that question because it is BORING. I like instead to ask, "looking back at your career, I would love to hear 3 moments that you are proudest of". Whatever the answers are, they are authentic, and it tells you what is important to the candidate. If you are asked that tired old unimaginative question, be honest. Is it development, recruiting, visuals etc. Be broad and then highlight with an example.

Be measured and don’t ramble on. Stick to 3 strengths where you really make a difference. Keep it concise and be prepared to elaborate if asked to do so. Prepare and prepare ahead of interview so it flows. Be humble and also be ready to discuss shortcomings.

I believe you should only mention those strengths which you have clearly demonstrated in past and that can be explained simply with evidence. Relevance of the strength with the job is also very important. Typically interviewee should not share a list of strengths rather share only the important strength which can be related with the job you have applied.

Always be honest in an interview. It does you no good to try and answer questions with what you think the interviewer wants to hear. Changes are good if the interview is good, exaggerating or fibbing, would get you knocked out. Worse case, would be you get hired because they thought you were someone you are not, that will not end well for either party.

I advise that interviewees come prepared to answer this question. It is best to know yourself whether there is an interview or not, self awareness is key. I have always made sure that l understand the job or role requirements very well and what competencies are required in order to succeed in the role. There had been multiple instances where I’ve heard candidates list a number of strengths but I won’t trust you until you’ve proven to me you used it in practice. The more your example ties to the job tasks where it needs to be demonstrated, the more confidence the hiring team is going to feel about your answer.

Strength and Weakness are perspectives. Because all human beings are unique. To address your answer, you have to be clear/bold on what you want to say. Not only to be clearer, but you know what you say. The bottom line is, just be transparent about who you are.

For instance, if one of my strengths is "organization" then I can add "at work, I make sure all the tasks of the week are divided, with deadlines, with collaborators assigned to different stages, and with reminders to stay on track."
