I know the case where a hiring manager, actually regional senior director, asked about the very fundamental concept to a candidate of a country director position but his explanation could not satisfy the hiring manager and the candidate was rejected although we had enough experience in the field and good leadership character. So first you need to understand what are the essential knowledges asked during the interview and at least to convince the would-be-boss that you are the person to sit at the position.

The technical questions you'll face will likely be related to the company's goals, challenges, and projects. Therefore, you should do some research on the company's background, vision, values, and culture. You should also look into their products, services, customers, competitors, and industry trends.
