Large photography conferences can offer a really cost-effective opportunity to get insights into different genres and techniques with masterclasses and seminars on a variety of topics.

Know your camera well and the lenses available. Know your field of interest. It could be macro photography, wildlife, landscape anything. Understand it and know the type of lenses required to get the best out of it. If you are new to photography, you can start out with automatic mode. Learn to focus on objects and how to get good angles. Understand lights. Its the most important concept according to me. Once you understand it get into manual mode. Read online articles on aperture, shutter speed and ISO. Learn how to manually use them according to your need. Experiment on your subject. Learn from the mistakes. Thats how you will improve. At the end, learn photo editing. Its an important skill in this field.

One of my favorite things about photography is that there's so much to learn that I'll never possibly reach an end to all the types of photography out there. I try to shoot everything, and through that, I've found the genres I definitely don't prefer. I've also found genres that I almost didn't consider shooting but love! Like astrophotography. I encourage anyone who is starting out to shoot a variety of styles and types of photography. My favorite right now is wildlife and nature. Something I accidentally fell into. Shoot often and shoot a variety of things to really find your passions.

To deepen your photography knowledge, start by exploring online tutorials, joining photography forums, and following experienced photographers on social media. Practice regularly, experiment with different styles, and seek constructive feedback. Consider taking a photography course or attending workshops to gain insights from professionals. Remember, hands-on experience is key to refining your skills.

recommend using a lower budget camera as it’s something to get started with; I’m starting with the Rebel SL3 which is only just above the $600 mark and a Rokinon 35mm lens for $350. It’s a great beginner setup, I got these new, so if you live in a bigger city, you may be able to find used cameras and lens. You have to learn the basics obviously ISO, Aperature, Shutter Speed. Once you learn those you are practically set. Practice makes perfect, but at the same time, it’s also great to learn from experienced photographers by getting ideas of how they take photos by looking at YouTube videos. However, only take these videos as a learning experience, you shouldn’t buy anything they offer until you have more experience.
