You’re interested in CSR, but how can you stay on top of the latest trends?

CSR is no longer a trend; CSR is now part of a company's DNA. Adapting to a changing environment, being innovative to find new ways of doing things and taking action... simply taking action.

In my experience, one may : - want to grow the passion first for the agenda of sustainability and believe that it is a real deal for the betterment of society and earth. - Engage with CSR thought leaders and experts - Follow leading CSR focused publications, post and websites.

Embrace adaptability. The CSR landscape is dynamic and trends can shift rapidly. be open to adjusting your strategies and practices based on new information and evolving industry norms.

Staying informed about the latest trends in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is vital for professionals in the field. Here are some tips for staying updated on CSR trends: subscribe to relevant publications and websites, attend conferences and seminars, join professional organizations, follow thought leaders on social media, utilize online platforms, take courses and webinars, read industry reports, and collaborate with peers. By actively engaging with the CSR community and continuously learning, professionals can contribute to positive impact and sustainability in their organizations and beyond.

I think any aspiring CSR professionals should do a good exercise in identifying their ideal working in CSR sector who are doing good justice in making meaningful impact in society.

As a CSR professional, one need to be updated with all current trends related to the CSR and development sector, business acumen, Skill Gap analysis, National Priorities and International Priorities related to the sector. To know all the technical know how, 2 methods to gain knowledge that I prefer are 1) Reading the CSR trending news, reports, what other industries in India are doing. 2) staying connected with the fellow professionals and colleagues at various locations across the Country and building genuine connections other than the connections on LinkedIn.

In my opinion, if you are able to find an engaged CSR WhatsApp group, everything else falls into place. As a member of multiple groups, I have found that the CSR community is extremely helpful and can help with all sorts of queries such as helping with names of implementing partners, case studies, invitations to relevant events and much more. Recently, I was hosting a closed group round table and 5 out of 10 attendees came in through a WhatsApp group.

Engage, engage, engae. Join professional networks related to CSR, sustainability, and corporate responsibility. Participate in discussions, forums, and online communities to share insights and learn from peers. LinkedIN has some fantastic groups to join.

Definitivamente para estar a la vanguardia de la responsabilidad social corporativa, hay que estar realizando continuamente el monitoreo de los calendarios de eventos que gremios, asociaciones, medios de comunicación y organismos del gobierno publican desde principio del a?o, para agendarse con el debido tiempo, y priorizar en que lugares se puede encontrar los personajes claves para hacer networking. Pero también hay que estar monitoreando las redes, la principal Linkedin, y seguir los grupos de interés relacionados con este tema, las personas consideradas Top of voice, para identificar cuáles son los eventos virtuales que pueden generar más valor, identificar los protagonistas y contactarlos.

Para mim o que tem funcionado é a leituras de publica??es especializadas dedicadas ao tema de todo o mundo. Participar de eventos online e presenciais é uma ótima maneira de aprender com especialistas e fazer networking com profissionais da área, recomendo três pelo menos Procuro me conectar por redes sócias, com líderes de opini?o e organiza??es dedicadas à RSE nas redes sociais pode ser uma forma eficaz de se manter informado. LinkedIn, por exemplo, tem vários grupos onde membros discutem tendências, compartilham artigos e trocam experiências. Ao combinar essas estratégias, você pode se manter bem informado sobre as últimas tendências em RSE e aplicar esses conhecimentos em sua organiza??o ou projetos pessoais.

Be critical, don't take everything for granted. Things are changing fast, understanding the scientific publication or the model used is key for a good intepretation of the results

Publications are there, plenty. Do not lose yourself in details, unless you know it is in line with your strategy. Know your risks first, create a strategy, then read and sort out merciless. Not everything helps, it depends on your bsuiness goals and market position.

In my experience, well prepared courses can give one a more comprehensive view and analysis of where we are locally and internationally. I call it the natural AI- of real people reading and continuously evaluating and adapting options.

I think continuous learning is essential for all leaders navigating unprecedented change. While I've greatly expanded my technical knowledge of trends and innovations through some courses, the programs that stand out also carve out space for self-reflection. Getting candid about my blindspots and growing capacities like resilience, wisdom and empathy have proven just as critical. By balancing the external with the internal, I’ve enhanced my ability to handle disruption, better support my team and provide steady guidance through long-term transformation.

En effet, il ne faut pas avoir peur de se tromper. S'améliorer continuellement implique d'agir, d'essayer, d'expérimenter, et de s'adapter à l'évolution de son environnement.

Fail fast. Keep failing. How? Message test. CSR is such a dynamic field that you have to be always experimenting and innovating. I would go so far as to say that in the time spent to take a course, the industry has already moved. Research the companies who do the best job of communicating and working their values - Patagonia, Chipotle, Whole Foods, Chobani, etc. Really study it. Study failed campaigns as well. Also look at how companies communicate internally. There are huge advancements that can be made here. I'm writing my second book CSR for the C-Suite. Importance to have a strong evaluation framework: what are the inputs/outputs and more importantly outcomes of the initiatives. The latest often being neglicted as more difficult to put into place.

I think YouTube videos and podcasts are becoming more impactful educational tools nowadays. One can explore diverse voices and perspectives on CSR issues shared by experts and critically examine traditional corporate practices. They mostly have discussions on real-world problems or solutions which helps in understanding these concepts practically.

Podcasts like "Outrage & Optimism" are my go-to for easily absorbing the latest on sustainability between meetings or on my daily walk. Host Christiana Figueres artfully extracts insights from global experts like Al Gore in just 30 minutes. I always come away more knowledgeable on pressing topics from climate finance to renewable transitions. Bloomberg Green offers a similarly engaging format with hard-hitting questions pushing business leaders past platitudes on ESG efforts. The convenience, brevity, and value of these sustainability podcasts make it easier for me as a busy CEO to stay contextually informed.

While CSR is being incorporated more and more in the core business of companies. There are still a clivage between what stakeholders/KOLs/Topics experts are saying and what actions are put into place from a core business perspective. Consumers are still and even more driving final decisions. Our responsibility is to mitigate that and make a more balanced decision with most cards in hands.

Keep on top of the external environment and the factors which are driving the changes and trends. Substack is a great app where you can find some of the latest thinkers and commentators - with newsletters, podcasts and conversation all in one place. Understanding why trends and changes in CSR are arising, really helps with engaging and demonstrating relevance to the range of stakeholders needed to create the positive impact CSR has at its heart.

I think, keeping in touch with the latest developments and initiatives undertaken by the Government in form of schemes (for example incubation funding to start-ups), incentives, global trends etc. in line with the stakeholders expectations is one way to definitely stay on top of the latest trends. It not only creates a positive impact on the Corporate's reputation but also on the economy of the sectors which are promoted by the Government.
