One of the most innovative hypersonic flight projects planned for the near future is the development of the Hypersonic Air-breathing Weapon Concept (HAWC) by the DARPA and the USA. HAWC aims to develop an air-launched, air-breathing hypersonic cruise missile capable of delivering precision strikes against time-sensitive targets with unparalleled speed and maneuverability. As a (sort of) outsider, I think hypersonic suborbital flight is some of the most underrated tech out there right now. And the possibilities go way beyond missiles: cargo delivery, temporary zero-g research, and even human transportation!

CTP Propulsion will allow for hypersonic travel WITHOUT a corresponding sonic boom. Some of the benefits include not only silent travel but also not disturbing civilian populations on the ground below.

There are lots of advancements happening in Electric Propulsion Technologies. One such topic is: Air-Breathing Electric Propulsion (ABEP) Intake Geometries for VLEO. The intake device attached to the thruster uses atmospheric particles of Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) as a propellant for the thruster which in turns reduces the overall takeoff weight and is a green and clean method of propulsion. VLEO which is lower than LEO (Low Earth Orbit) has comparatively low space debris/junk which helps the spacecraft to sustain.

Electric Propulsion is definitely a game changer in aerospace and the applications are multiple. From my perspective, the main challenge is the battery which is heavy, limited in energy and power density, expensive, and it poses many safety problems. There are several good solutions now but more research and development is needed in oder to unlock the full potential. Another interesting project is fuel cell stacks as a source of electric energy. The technology is promising and the development is progressing at high pace. Some example are: Airbus ZEROe project, H2FLY, ZeroAvia. The challenge here is the sourcing of hydrogen. Nowadays it comes mainly from methane, which is fossil fuel. A solution for 100% green hydrogen is electrolysis.

Among these initiatives is the development of the NASA Evolutionary Xenon Thruster (NEXT), an ion propulsion system designed to enable efficient and high-speed travel for robotic spacecraft. What we refer to as the CTPSci Sciences and what we will make available would be considered the 'Holy Grail' of future space propulsion systems: CTP Gravitic Propulsion or CTP Propulsion (without requiring fuel or onboarding propellant).

Biomimicry: It is the the process of drawing inspiration to our challenges from our best teacher - nature itself. For instance, in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, 25 swimming world records were broken. Out of these, 23 were by athletes who used a special swimsuit, which was also used by 98% of the medal winners. The reason lies in that swimsuit which was designed by a company which took inspiration from the texture of shark skin (scientists from the University of San Diego figured out that it could minimize turbulent fluid flow). This idea is now being incorporated into aircraft wings, reducing aerodynamic drag and enhancing fuel efficiency. These are also used in spacecrafts to enhance their launch efficiency and to facilitate better re-entry

Interstellar space travel as well as new forms of space tourism to space colonization and space migration will be possible with the realization of future CTP spacecraft. What we call 'CTP' is 'how' humankind will achieve something akin to 'Star Trek'-like civilization in real life. "To boldly go where no one has gone before!" and then some.

The growing development of hyper-loop systems is the most interesting recent development in the engineering sector. The ability to have aircraft level transit times coupled with convenience similar to that of a railway network will allow more frequent and faster regional and eventually international travel. The Japanese maglev train gives us a glimpse into the future of civil transport, reporting speeds over 600km/h. The impact of the ability to connect the whole country of Japan cannot be understated in terms of economic value. The static and ground level nature of the hyper-loop infrastructure allows connection to the power grid; this in turn future-proofs the concept allowing for eventual integration of more sustainable power solutions.

Solid mechanics, especially fracture mechanics, is one of the fundamental aspects when it comes to manufacturing an aerospace vehicle. For instance, diving deep into the high strain rate phenomenon is an exciting as well as challenging project in the field of aerospace engineering.
