-
Research industry standards and assess your value before the interview. When asked, provide a well-reasoned salary range based on your skills, experience, and market trends. Express flexibility while emphasizing the value you bring. If needed, ask about budget constraints to align expectations. Stay confident and professional.
-
Before the interview, go in armed with knowledge. Use industry reports (so easy to find), salary surveys, and even online tools (such as Glassdoor, PayScale, or LinkedIn Salary) to determine the market range for the position. To determine your salary range, if you're not sure, you will want to do a couple things: - Establish a range rather than a fixed number to allow flexibility. - Make sure your range aligns with industry standards and your experience level (that's why we collected the reports). - The lower end should be the minimum you’d accept, and the upper end should be an ambitious but reasonable figure. And, most importantly: - Never say "Would *you* be able to offer $X?" - Instead, say "Would [Company] be able to offer $X?"
