I use my hands a lot when speaking. When I use my hands I notice it shows my passion and confidence; so I practice to be sure everything feels natural and smooth. For me practice is the key.

Some people don't pay attention to their hand gestures and they move a lot. This can distract your audience especially if you are using a laser pointer then it will not only distract but also annoy them. If your hands shake and you are using a pointer try putting one hand on top of the other hand's elbow this way you will provide more support for your arm and therefore you will shake less.

Consider practicing with a partner or friend before communicating to your boss. Making eye contact with your boss is crucial for building rapport, trust, and credibility. It enables you to gauge reactions, emphasize important points, and encourage engagement. Effective eye contact involves maintaining it for a few seconds before naturally shifting away, avoiding staring or frequent blinking. This non-verbal cue enhances communication, making it more impactful and fostering a collaborative environment.

But Don't fix your eyes on your boss and ignore everyone else in the room! And one more point: you can use eye contact with people who are side talking or distracting others. It's one way to draw their attention to their behavior without having to intimidate them

Smiling automatically releases tension! Presentations - especially those made to your boss will often automatically increase your nervousness! So I gen erally smile - even if it is only slightly! I will sometimes into a private space, smile at myself in the mirror. Then I look away and smile again and I give myself a quick wink. This is such a mood lifter and tension release. Even if the situation is somber, I have found that a slight smile and nod upon greeting can cut the tension in a room. Also, when giving a warm greeting be sure to express gratitude for the time being taken to receive your personal presentation. Everyone appreciates grattitude. After all your boss could have just requested a memo or report.

I have come to learn that everything starts with mindset. How you feel, what you say, how you speak, your tone of voice - even the pace at which you speak - and your posture are all outgrowths about how you are mentally approaching the issue. Of course, you research must be on point and your presentation tools and supporting data must be flawless. However, it is minset that matters in the end. Start by adjusting your thinking about your boss: - Are you there to help and support their goals? - Are you passionate about your idea? - Can you articulate how what you present will benefits the team's constituency (clients)? Once your mindset is in the right place, you will be more relaxed, feel more confident and everything else will align.

One important tip while presenting is - pls be well aware about the topic you are presenting, do a good research before presenting so that you’re ready to answer questions if any.

If possible, practice, practice, practice in front of a mirror, or find someone who would be willing to provide honest feedback. Try recording yourself when you practicing in the mirror.
