If you panic, the audience will panic. One of the greatest things you can do is practice managing your own emotions in those high stress environments. Tap into your problem solving skills and do not be afraid to ask for help!

Always always arrive extra early and know your tech!!! If you can’t do the tech check on the day, ask for a time prior to go in and test everything. Make sure everything works. Send copies of your material to the organizer if need be.

Your mental makeup is more important than any technical aids. So prepare your speech independent of presentation which may be used as hook only. Check standby provisions on the stage and get familiarise with emergency procedures.

Since the question is "How can you prevent technical glitches from ?????????????????? ???????? ???????????????????????" and not how to prevent those technical glitches in the first place. The right answer is to build your confidence. When technical glitches happen (?????? ???????? ????????), the true measurement for a great speaker is how do you handle it with your confidence to the situation. Self reflect and have confidence on your subject and yourself and this way you can keep going even if you lose your slides/clicker/even lights!

When we rehearse for TEDx with our speakers, we always show up a day early with the full setup to check everything out, and we always have a backup plan. You don’t necessarily need to go a day before; if you’re presenting in your office’s meeting room, just arrive early to set up before your presentation starts. It’s also helpful to know which rooms work best for you. If you’re giving a big talk, though, it’s worth spending those extra hours doing a soundcheck and getting to know the technician—trust me, they’ll be your best friend during the event!
