Joining a professional organisation is a great way to meet other professionals with similar interests. IFT and IFST are great examples - both have lots of resources available online and organise in person events too throughout the year (Including the IFT First conference in Chicago this year) It also provides an informal forum for members to share information on career advancement and opportunities in different organisations.
