I have experienced this with a seasoned HR team. In order to set the expectations early on I began asking questions: What's wrong? What about your job do you like to do? Don't like to do? Want to do? I allowed a no holds barred approach to the conversation. I ended up with claims of harassment, discrimination, favoritism, low morale, and any other cultural killer there was in the HR world. Here I was looking at the group that supplies culture, engagement etc. and they were miserable. As I pulled their answers together a pattern began to emerge. I was able to see who my team was and where there strengths lie within the group. What came out of it was an assignment of duties that fit the need but also the person. They knew what they had to do
