If you're experiencing self-doubt before you speak, try to remove your ego and remember it's not about you. The best speakers are there to deliver a transformation for the audience. When I'm feeling self-doubt, I stop thinking about myself, how I'll look, what I should sound like etc. and think about the audience and ask myself, "what do they need?"

Remember this powerful perspective: There's someone in the audience who needs to hear the message that only your unique voice can deliver. This mindset shift is transformative because: - It refocuses your attention on providing value to others. - It taps into your sense of purpose beyond personal performance. - It highlights the uniqueness of your experiences and insights. - It creates a more personal connection with your audience. To embrace this approach: - Reflect on your journey and the insights you've gained. - Visualize someone in the audience who could benefit from your message. - Remember times when a speaker's words profoundly impacted you. Your voice matters, and someone needs to hear exactly what you have to say.

Self-doubt usually comes from a high expectation on yourself, and hence you start to think whether you are the best person to deliver the speech, what if you cannot engage the audience etc. For me, a very simple strategy is to do a quick and simple paradigm shift - instead of focusing on myself, I turn the focus on the audience and ask "what is the one value that I can bring to today's audience that will impact them?" By shifting the focus on what value I can bring, it is no longer about me, and it's okay if I slipped up a little. I don't need to be 100% perfect, I just need to be perhaps 70-80% good, but the value I give to my audience is 100%. Lastly, I have a simple mantra before I start: "Trust in the universe, let the show begin!"

My biggest "ah-ha" moment in my speaking career was when I took the focus off myself and put it on the audience. This allowed me the freedom to not worry about being perfect. This allowed me to speak TO my audience, instead of speaking AT my audience. I had more eye contact and the feedback was that they felt that I was having a conversation with them. Connecting with the audience is the key you need before they will let you influence them. Understand that you will not be perfect, but that is OK. You can be good and still connect with them. You got this!!!
