Make sure that the scope is approved by the business. A lot of clauses depend on what the scope is. Understanding the scope will help you negotiate alot better. So if there is any changes (even a minute one) directly scheduling a call with business will save alot of time. I always recommend that.

I would always break the changung scope into phase and have separate SOW's and have that addressed as task based or project milestone based. Its easy, less risky and each SOW can have their termination clauses to address them separately.
