Building trust with a resistant client is difficult and common, and it starts with active listening. Acknowledging client concerns and expressing with empathy shows that you truly care about their situation. It is a useful attitude to present a framework that highlights collaboration by sharing experiences related to your expertise.Consistently communicate your intentions by providing transparency about your processes and decisions. Offer small wins to build trust;Quick, actionable information that delivers positive results can change perspectives.Be patient and persistent,to show that you work determinedly for their success.Over time, sincerity and commitment are beneficial to foster a strong relationship with openness and collaboration.

Talk to the person behind the client. Its not a 'resistant client', its always the 'resistant person.' Build trust with the person first, client next.
-
Building trust starts with active listening. Trust cannot be built overnight, it takes time. Align to the client values, client's desired outcomes and relentlessly focus on outcomes however small. Quality of outcome is critical. Even more important is for the client to understand that you are operating for their best interests.

Trust is key. You need to be authentic and genuine, follow through and truly listen to their needs. Give feedback to demonstrate that you understand what they're looking for. Trust takes time and you have to be willing to offer time, assistance and support and not rush the process so they know you're truly invested in them and in their needs. It's important that you hear their concerns and misgivings and address them earnestly and honestly so they can gain confidence in you and in what you're offering.
-
There are many aspects to this, but I think in your heart of hearts forget about anything other than how you can help them and making sure that you do. There are many “techniques” to do this or other things but if you genuinely care and will do what you promised most clients will come round and realise you offer something over and above the norm. When clients realise you will do whatever to help them normally the frostiness will abate.
