Boundaries Check-Ins are great ways to express your personal boundaries and hear from your team. I typically lead these at the beginning of the daily Safety Meeting. If you are in a position of power, you can create Baseline Boundaries or Community Agreements that you share with your team, so everyone knows those are non-negotiable. Understanding the 4 Stress Responses (Fight, Flight, Freeze, and Fawn) also helps you make Trauma-Informed decisions to reduce harm on your set, such as bringing in outside help (i.e. Mental Health Coordinators) to support your cast and crew.

It's essential to have a common rapport with your team in order to boost effective communication. As a baseline, you need to establish that you are there to support one another, the team, and the project. Film production is full of hurdles and pivots. Your mindset should always be 'us versus the problem', not 'us versus one another'. It's always good to have a conversation before beginning a project, emphasizing that common mission and the mutually supportive role of the team on set. This makes conversations regarding boundaries easier when they may arise.
