I know great photographers who make little money and not so great photographers who make a lot of money. First, know your worth. Second, educate your client throughout your onboarding process and the photoshoot. Don't surprise them at the end with a price list. Inform them so they can make educated decisions according to their budget. Be transparent with your rates and what is included. Educating the client is key to avoiding that uncomfortable point where they make you feel you aren't worth your prices.

If they love your work, but not your prices, ask them what the cost would be to hire someone in their price range, but produces work that misses the mark on your expectations? And here's the answer - they're going to get a handful of shots they kinda sorta like, but have massive gaps in their portfolio. What happens next? They end up calling you and booking a triage session with you - and, end up spending MORE money than if they simply booked with you from the beginning.
