In my experience, taking time to breathe slowly and deeply helps me get into the right mindset. For my work specifically, I usually have to investigate foreign material that appears on the line. After I do the exercise, taking notes on my phone helps me recall the information later. I start with establishing a timeframe, calling for the appropriate department heads to help with the investigation, and examining the piece itself. Then if it turns out to be a not easily identifiable piece, I start listing off possible sources with the help of the department heads. This usually helps me in managing a stressful situation.

In a high-pressure situation, stay calm by pausing to take deep breaths and refocus. Break the problem into smaller parts to make it more manageable. Rely on facts rather than emotions, and prioritize tasks to maintain control. If time allows, avoid rushed decisions —give yourself a realistic deadline. Seek input from trusted colleagues for different perspectives, and draw on past experiences to guide your choices. Lastly, maintain a positive outlook to keep your mind clear, enabling better decision-making despite the stress.

When stress hits in high-pressure situations, I remember: pause, breathe, and maybe make a coffee. I’ve learned that breaking tasks down makes them less scary—like eating a giant pizza one slice at a time! Plus, relying on data keeps emotions in check, and clear communication saves everyone from unnecessary drama. So, when in doubt, just take a deep breath, and remember: you’re not in a reality show!

In high-pressure situations, I found that maintaining composure and executing prompt actions are essential. Forming a team, delegating responsibilities, and offering explicit direction elucidates the circumstances, fosters progress, and guarantees effective results.

Recognition is key. My response depends on the situation. If it’s public speaking, I’d start by openly admitting that I’m nervous. It helps to relieve some of the pressure and makes me feel more comfortable. If it’s an important call where I can’t openly say I’m nervous, I’d use the “box breathing” technique—inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4, exhale for 4, and hold again for 4. It helps to calm the nerves. If possible, I’d take a short break and drink some water to reset and regain focus.
