Empathize: Start from a place of curiosity. Calmly express your concerns to your coworker, while at the same time, understand the information being presented. Sometimes, dispute arises from genuine lack of being heard and hearing people out. Focus: Often, project resources discussion involve three things: resource allocation (budget, manpower, etc.), priorities and timelines. Focus on each one of these, discuss pressing concerns of all parties and identify solutions/compromise. Collaborate: The goal is to create a project plan which can be followed through by all parties. It doesn't always have to be a zero-sum discussion. Leverage the diversity of the group. Different backgrounds assist with alternative solutions and risk management.

I don't have any co-wokers currently as I work for myself. Thinking back to the time I did have coworkers, I think the best way to resolve disputes is to keep calm and assertive at the same time. It's a fine line because human nature is to be aggressive.

Be clear about why you need the resources and how they contribute to your project goals. 4. Seek Common Ground: Look for win-win solutions.

Understand the current situation e.g. the project's overall status including the current resources available. Thoroughly grasped the situation in over-all perspective than just personal perspective. You can have the vivid picture of the current status of the project. Have an open discussion with your coworker objectively. What could happen to the project if you cannot make progress the same with your coworker. That the resources must be properly allocated based on either urgency or resource availability. Not to be monopolized or else the project will stagnate. See the situation in whole perspective in order to have a full grasp.
