La surveillance doit agir en lien avec la sauvegarde ou duplication des données en deux espaces physiques différents. Il peut être bon de surveiller que l'enregistrement du trafic de mise à jour est bien cohérent avec les enregistrements sauvegardés. Les accès à privilège de la surveillance de sécurité doivent aussi être visibles par plusieurs administrateurs afin de s'assurer de la légitimité de ces accès. Il peut être utile de séparer le trafic de lecture seule du trafic de mise à jour, pour la légitimité des actions d'écriture. Des fonctions de Roll Back peuvent isoler les actions malveillantes ou erronées.
