in my experience, stakeholders in conflict is significantly better than indifferent stakeholders. That having said, Project Mgmt conflict resolution is sometimes simply listening out the issues of each stakeholder. Red-Amber-Green updates on delays/ cost over runs helps, lastly calling in the sponsor for a status update sometimes resolves it amicably

The magic word here is Clear communication: From the beginning, we had to develop a clear communication plan with stakeholders, classify them according to their effectiveness in the project, make sure to use the ideal means with each of them, and hold a regular meeting to give them the last update on the project and receive feedback to ensure that we are all on the same track and to address any potential disruptions. . All of the above will reduce the chances of conflict if it occurs. We use active listening techniques and try to reach common ground, and if we fail, we try to resort to a mediator.

Some of the things that can reduce the gaps with stakeholders are - Have clear RACI metrics defined - Be clear and concise in your communication be it interms of status updates or approvals or seeing support or providing information. - Regular updates and connects are required. - There are still chances that there can be a gap after following everything you can think off, hence retrospecting is important to improve and reduce conflicts

When managing conflicts among stakeholders, my approach would be to ask them to step back and look at the big picture. Is the conflict based on a difference in the output/goals of the project, or based on the approach/solution to the goals? Based on that, either seek clarification with leadership/executives on the goals or clarify that we have the same goals but different ways to solve them. Next, turn toward prototyping/proof of concepts as well as risk management across solutions to get to a "disagree and commit" approach to move forward.
