During this challenging time, bringing the team together to review the shared goal is the first step in uniting everyone. I always enjoyed seeing the head nods when I was able to clearly articulate the vision and the 'why' behind what we were here to accomplish. Often, getting everyone on the same sheet of music meant making the task smaller in the near term and then growing them as the momentum came back. A few other things to consider include: - Identifying where the conflicts are within the team - Looking for the underlying cause - Encouraging more collaboration - Empowering and delegating These are just a few ways to ensure your team continues to move in the right direction.

When your team’s priorities clash, it’s like trying to make a pizza with everyone wanting different toppings. One wants pineapple, the other hates it, it’s chaos! Your job? Be the chef who says, “Let’s focus on making the best pizza together, even if it’s half-and-half.” Unite them with the bigger picture: the delicious end result everyone can enjoy!

Ensure that your team are clear on your organisation's purpose, what success looks like, and their role in achieving that. This can be done through regular communication and connecting daily tasks to the broader organisational goals. This also helps with prioritisation, and conflicting priorities within and across teams as people are clear on what is important and why. Simon Sinek’s ‘start with why’ philosophy underscores this, advocating for a foundational understanding of purpose to drive success. But then the team needs to be clear on the 'what' and 'how' to ensure they are motivated to achieve this, persistent through challenges, engaged with the organisation, and are set-up for success.
