The truth is that there are going to be complicated cases in any social work position that can be difficult to navigate. It can be easy to doubt yourself and think that you could have done more or that you should have chosen another option that would have better addressed the situation. As much as it is important to do our due diligence before rushing to make decisions on a client's behalf, we must also allow ourselves the grace to understand that we did the best that we could with the information that we had. Utilize your resources such as your Clinical Supervisor, treatment team, etc. However, learn to practice self-forgiveness and empowerment by taking each complicated case as an opportunity to learn and move forward.
