You have a choice. You can get triggered or you can get curious... What kinds of conflict is your colleague stirring up? Are the conflicts constructive or destructive? If the conflicts are constructive, but conflict is something you avoid, that's an area to explore. If there is a conflict to be had and you avoid it, you will find yourself in conflict with yourself. However, if the conflicts are destructive, consider that your colleague may be running a very old strategy - the child that chooses to misbehave to get attention. All of us want to feel significant, but we can meet that need positively, or, like the misbehaving child, negatively. Do they feel recognized and appreciated? Notice how curiosity allows you to feel more calm.
