What an interesting question, I think that maybe the best way is to live the situation, made mistakes and learn from them, every emergency situation is different and being calm and focused is a result of training, of having a good team that you can rely on, of having good information, also the knowledge to understand the root of the cause, the knowledge to look for alternatives. A good team that supports you with insights to make decision, the empowerment to make those decisions, the thrust of your manager that you are doing what is needed to return to normal condition. Sometimes it's just the experience of having overcome many crises and emergencies is what begins to give us the peace of mind to face them.
