First and foremost the purpose <requirement> of having or adding an equipment in a system should be satisfied. E.g. if we want an A.C. to keep the temperature of a room at 24°C for 24×7×365 then we need to look for an Aircon whose cooling capacity should be atleast meeting this requirement if not exceeding without any sign of deterioration. Secondly, we can access the past performance of a particular equipment to analyse it's history. Stage wise inspections of raw materials from right after the design & planning stage is completed can help in ensuring that the right steps are taken at the correct time. All standards applicable to the location where the equipment needs to be finally installed must be followed for ease of installation.
