Last year, I made a bold career switch at 45 (yes, mid-career crisis vibes!) from workforce solutions to the worlds of entertainment and education. Naturally, there was a lot I didn’t know, and I quickly realised that learning from industry veterans was the fastest way to catch up. So, I joined networking events and started connecting with experienced people on LinkedIn and other platforms. I was lucky to meet people who were generous with their knowledge, helping me with my noob questions. And in return, I shared my 20 years of expertise in workforce solutions, happy to exchange knowledge. Smile, stay curious, and don’t be afraid to ask or share! A friendly approach and genuine exchange of knowledge can open doors you never expected ??

Networking will help you find a job and this is a secret no one will tell you about?? Most of the people that comment and like my posts I will remember them the most when I have any job opportunity in hand??

Networking goes along way in construction, but it doesn’t have to be formal or forced. Start by showing up at industry events, local expos, or even open site tours. Introduce yourself, ask questions, and show a genuine interest in what people do. It is all about who you know! Also, get active on LinkedIn! Follow industry leaders and join construction groups to keep up with trends. Don’t be shy about reaching out to people whose work excites you and letting them know you’re here to learn. In a people-focused industry like this, being real and eager to connect opens up opportunities.
