You're embarking on a complex graphic project. How do you ensure your vision matches the illustrator's?

First of all, I make sure we’re on the same page by clearly explaining my vision, sharing visual examples like mood boards, and having a conversation to align our ideas. Regular check-ins help keep things on track, and I’m always open to their creative input while ensuring we stay true to the original vision. Clear communication makes things easy.

Aligning concepts is a must in Graphic Design. You need to research your main objective and share this with the illustrator, so the context is understood from both sides. Understanding this fundamental is a key or milestone. So, you make sure you convey an appropiate message that is align with human feelings and emotions. So then, the audience is rooted to this.

When starting a complex graphic project, clear communication is key to aligning your vision with the illustrator’s. Begin with a detailed brief that outlines your expectations, style references, and key elements. Regular check-ins and feedback loops throughout the process will ensure both creative visions stay in sync, leading to a final product that reflects a shared understanding.

Briefs and user experience are always mandatory and Graphics are rooted to this. Fonts, colors, shapes have an specific language in which your brand is associated. So, you need always to ask for a brief and to be clear to convey the message is needed. The illustrations must be an aid for understanding to the user finally. Besides creative juices employed by the magician artist or illustrator!

Have a good iconography research and referents is mandatory to be clear about the message. You can also tell to the illustrator or artist about some specfic style to use or just seek for a specific artist to help you in this specific subject. There are a lot of artists that has her/his own taste and can match with your idea. I have my own taste for example and my own way to work as an artist. It's like a maner of speaking.

Visual culture. The most important part of a graphic design project. And then usability. Visual culture is not just selected images from other projects. It also means creating our own content based on our experiments. Again, we have to choose the longest way to find the best results. Even if you use AI visual generation applications, my advice is to choose the complicated but open ones.

Keeping the client informed make sure that we are on the right track. In my design journey ,I send progress reports regularly to clients. Whether its color scheme or layouts, try to get my clients feedback as a result this reduces the discrepancy between expectations and outcomes.
