As an E-Learning instructor, leveraging new technology is crucial for keeping students engaged. Incorporating interactive elements like virtual reality simulations, augmented reality experiences, or immersive 3D environments can enhance learning by providing hands-on, experiential opportunities. Additionally, integrating social learning features such as discussion forums, live chats, or collaborative projects fosters a sense of community and encourages peer interaction. Utilizing personalized learning algorithms and adaptive learning platforms tailors content to individual student needs, promoting self-paced learning and mastery.

In my teaching experience, blending interactive videos, VR/AR, gamification, and other multimedia elements has truly transformed student engagement. Using podcasts, eBooks, and social platforms enriches the learning experience beyond traditional methods. Incorporating quick polls, animations, and personalized learning keeps things fresh and directly addresses students' needs. Getting students to create with tools like infographics teaches valuable skills while keeping them engaged. This approach has solidified my belief in the power of technology to make learning more effective and enjoyable.

We can enhance our practical experience through the utilization of Virtual Labs and accelerate our depth of learning process by engaging with educational animation videos.

One thing that I find keeps my students engaged is to make full use of the breakout rooms in Zoom. Giving students a topic from the lesson to explore breaks the monotony and seem to liven up the room. I also use the breakout sessions as participation grade and that motivates them to engage in the conversation. After all it is 10% of their grade. I think the more students are able to contribute to the conversation, they learn more.

I feel it is important to find ways to connect with your students and create a sense of community.

I recently took a course for a College and Career Awareness teaching endorsement, where the instructor turned a Canvas course into an Escape room. In order for us to complete the course we had to successfully compete all of the tasks with 100% accuracy. This course was designed for educators earning the endorsement, but was very appealing even for adults as it created fun experience in learning many topics related to the course. Some included: state funding and how the funding can be used, understanding the career pathways available to students, and work based learning opportunities. In a normal “seminar” type setting, it would be a boring experience, but this made it was fun and was super engaging allowing more retention of the topics!

I have used many Web pages and apps to engage students in my Online classes, in which I can include tools such as Gimkit, Kahoot, Quizizz, Bamboozle, or even interactive strategies such as Jam boards, Miro, etc. I am completely sure that learning another language is impossible if we do not use these tools and strategies to engage our students, they are part of a successful learning environment.

Si lo que queremos es tener a los estudiantes más comprometidos, la IA es un elemento a tener en cuenta cuando estamos configurando los programas formativos. Tiene que ser nuestra aliada e incluirla como parte del repertorio de herramientas que les proponemos utilizar, evolucionando también nuestros sistemas de evaluación/corrección para que estén orientadas a ellas. Pidamos ejercicios en los que utilicen la IA para que conozcan sus posibilidades y limitaciones. Y, cuando no queramos que la utilicen, que nos entreguen vídeos, infografías, actividades donde evitemos el copiar y pegar.

Me gusta integrar en mis clases cápsulas realizadas con AI, videos con avatar; realizar actividades que incluyan a utilización de la gran cantidad de herramientas que la AI nos pone a disposición, en especial, en docencia tenemos que estar en la vanguardia con este conocimiento. Incluso ense?ar a elaborar Prompt eficientes y la incorporación de Norma APA para el uso de ChatGPT. Un docente debe dar valor agregado a su entrega de conocimiento.
