Incisive...Tagging/indexing are fundamental to making any sense of data in Data lake.(unstructured data). To effectively mine data, t has to be identified, put into classifcatoons and cataloged. Re arranging data provides long term benefits delivering enhanced opportunities to derive actionable insights from a data set. It provides data for easy analysis, allowing multiple use of data.

Assuming an organisation is already is in some stage of Data Lake Implementation (as part of their Data Strategy). The key questions that one must keep in mind would be: -- Who all are the main data owners for the source systems that feed into the lake ? -- Does the data ingestion, storage format, ELT / ETL approaches tie back to the business processes ? i.e some firms (say BFSI) may be having certain SLA s / data requirements that need to met as part of Regulatory commitments. How does our data processing tools / ecosystem meet that ? -- What metrics does one need to measure w.r.t non-functional requirements ? all these are valid Qs that would help one design solution keeping in mind the client pain points.
