You're a designer with a new client. How can you make sure they come back for more?

Most people find it hard, but it's simple if you are good at communication. Here are some things I do that you can keep in check to ensure they come back again! First and most importantly, keep everything clear from the start: Budget Timeframe Deliverables This will reduce misunderstandings and the risk of worsening your relationship during the process. Secondly, be their friend and make them comfortable so they can easily share their thoughts and feedback. This will help you create a project accordingly, increasing the chances of receiving positive feedback Lastly, always strive to deliver the best and on time. When you are clear, provide the best on time, and are friends with the client, I guarantee they'll come to you

Understanding your clients needs is the first step to ensuring them that they are in the right place, good communication is required to successfully achieve this. Listen closely and carefully to little details, even having a non-official talk with them can help. Research their audience to which the designs would be addressed to, helps narrow things down

To keep a new client coming back, just focus on two things: Do awesome work and be a good communicator. Make sure you really get what they want in their design. Share your progress and listen to their feedback. Be cool with making changes. Stick to deadlines so they know they can rely on you. Give them some extra ideas or tips – show them you're into making their project great. Lastly, say thanks and let them know you're ready to help with anything else they need. Make it a good experience, and they'll want to work with you again.

The basic of providing quality of work is understanding priority and needs.A clear set of scope of work. Set daily targets for team and queries for client. Schedule conversation by email or meetings as per project needs. But first and foremost understand client or customer needs to deliver quality and make good professional relations.

Clarity can save you a lot of headaches. Try to put as much process or rules in each project and stick to them. Write it all down. Having a contract with the correct expectations is so important. I realized most people haven't done business with a creative or a freelancer so they don't know what to expect. Often the expectations are way off such as unrealistic timeframes or budgets. I often remind my clients of where were are in the process and remind them of what is next. When they realize the project is over they are comfortable starting the process all over again with new work.

Clearly communicate project timelines, deliverables, and any potential challenges. Make sure both you and the client are on the same page regarding goals and outcomes. Being transparent about what to expect creates trust and reduces misunderstandings. Regularly update clients on progress and address any concerns promptly. Communication, one of the key aspects in building business relationships with clients. It is clear that with poor work and missing deadlines, almost nothing will help when the client is waiting for specific results. But communication, when approached correctly, can improve your relationship with the client and make them feel comfortable and more trusting towards you.

Communicate in a manner that makes you not just a good designer but also a good person. Who listens, understands and reciprocates to their needs and always initiate more interaction. Give them your insights on how you function. How their expectations and needs would look good or not let them know.

Quality over quantity is the term that is commonly used here. I would venture to say that both can be achieved if you have a clear SOP that is tried and tested. Putting in the extra time as well will not come back void. Always be on the lookout for new tools and processes and don’t get stuck in the “this is how we’ve always done it.” As there are always new tools coming out that can do what you do cleaner; more effectively in half the time.

Delivering quality is obvious. What really impresses clients and ensures they come back is underpromising, and over delivering on both quality and agreed deliverables. If you promised a logo, deliver a suite of 3. If you promise a brochure, do the flat designs, but provide mockups and variations too. This approach is what keeps clients returning time and time again (and telling other people about how great you are).
