Communication is a two way path. #1. Active listening (for the sake of understanding), reflecting and asking follow up questions will enhance yourself as well engage the speaker. #2. Active participate in the ongoing meeting / discussion to bring out your own unique perspectives and approaches. This will cement yourself as a go to person on the topic(s). Speaking up is for the benefit of yourself, others and ultimately the business. It brings you direct visibility and encourages others around to you mimic you.

One approach that has served me well is fostering effective collaboration. Collaboration is the key for your success. For any requirements, there will be two sides - Implict & explicit. Explicit requirements are documented and anybody can work on it. Implicit requirements are the hidden gems that that are not documented or specified by the stakeholders. By proactively asking questions, discussing ideas with analysts, data scientists and stakeholders, you can uncover more on the requirements. This would help shape the end product more bullet proofed and server you team & business with reaping rewards from a better designed product.

Consistency and Trust are two pillars that one need to build with the team. Efficient code, test driven development and well documented code will go long ways in inspiring other team members to emulate you. Consistent delivery of high quality code/work establishes trust in you by the team and the business. One can become highly reputable, dependable and trustable with above actions.

What's fun in doing the same thing the same way all over many times (other than perfecting the process)? Introduce the newly learnt techniques and processes, to the benefit of your product/process. Showcase how your new technique can be huge advantage in bring down processing time, performance improvements and less rework. Buoyed by your enthusiasm and success, team will follow your foot steps to bring more to the table and utlimately paves way for collective growth and sucess.
