You’re a content creator who’s an introvert. How can you build a network?

The first place to build a network is around your values and interests. As an introvert, it's easy to hold conversations that center around your interests. So, seek out people with similar interests, visions, and values and connect with them. You can find them in communities, events, or on social media. I've connected with such people by joining communities and attending events in my area of interest.

This is very easy to say but so difficult to do - as an introvert, the act of FINDING is the hardest, most anxiety inducing activity! Here's how I like to do this - 1. Pick an activity that involves some amount of social interaction (like gym, yoga, football, gaming, dance for example) 2. Look for classes, community sessions, local studios, etc. that organise group-based activities 3. Request a close friend to register for those activities with you for the first couple sessions, so you're not going in there alone Once you figure out whether you even enjoy the activity, you'll already start opening up to people, and they to you. THEN you can follow through on what's written in the original description of this point :)

One of the most misunderstood facts about introverted people is that they are often perceived as shy or antisocial. While introverts may indeed prefer solitary activities or smaller social gatherings, they are not necessarily shy or incapable of socializing. Introverts typically recharge by spending time alone or in quieter environments, whereas extroverts tend to gain energy from social interactions. Understanding that introversion is a personality trait related to energy levels and social preferences, rather than a lack of social skills or confidence, can help dispel misconceptions about introverted individuals. As an introverted person, I'd focus more creating value that would bring people to me than going to look for people.

While you might not be the loudest voice in the room, you can make a big impact by being genuinely helpful and supportive. Sharing valuable insights, offering assistance, and celebrating others' achievements can create strong connections. Whether it's promoting fellow creators, giving shoutouts, or sharing useful resources, being generous in my actions helps build a positive and supportive community around me. This way, even as an introvert, you can foster meaningful relationships and grow your network authentically.

Boundaries are crucial for anyone, especially introverts. I get overwhelmed when networking with many people at the same time. One way to prevent this is by setting boundaries. Put a specific time to network, limit the number of people you talk to, create a priority list, and communicate your boundaries to people so they don't cross them.
