Your actual chances of getting into a good studio are pretty slim without some extreme skills or talent that could take years to acquire. If you work for a studio in the upper echelons of the video game world your workdays are usually 12 hours a day — minimum. Working late hours and weekends isn't an isolated incident — this cycle could go on for weeks or months in a game development studio — and it’s called “crunch.”

Game development offers a wide range of possible subject areas. In my opinion, it makes sense to think about what really interests you about game development before you start. Do you like to be involved in developing the game concept, or are you interested in the technological challenges? Even in the area of engine development, there are several different disciplines, such as rendering techniques and shader programming or game mechanics such as character controllers, animation or cloud networks.

As an artist you will focus more on building 3d characters and environments, lighting etc. tools like blender and maya are your go to. Sound design for games use tools like wise or adobe audition Animation can be done with blender or 3d tools And development can be done in Unity and Unreal game engine, which would also require you to have coding experience. Game dev is broad and there is something for everyone. Identity your interest and go for it

Before diving into game development, it's essential to acquire a solid understanding of the necessary skills and tools. This includes proficiency in programming languages such as C++, C#, or Python, knowledge of game engines like Unity or Unreal Engine, 3D modeling and animation skills, proficiency in graphic design software like Photoshop or Blender, and a strong grasp of game design principles. Secondly, it makes us vulnerable to a but of abuse. We work longer hours at a smaller pay, because we often consider that the games we make are an expression of us as creators. Finally, you should be be aware that your passion for games may subside over years as you will be experiencing them differently. Deconstructing them rather than immersing into them.
