Embrace AI, start simple: Understand its role, then explore user-friendly AI platforms. Be multi-cloud savvy: Get comfortable with different cloud providers. Automate like a pro: Learn tools like Kubernetes and IaC to boost efficiency. Never stop learning: Stay updated with online courses and communities. Solid foundation, continuous learning, and a love for docs – your recipe for cloud success!

Technology overall is ever-evolving, and cloud computing is no exception. Recent trends in AI, especially Gen-AI, have drastically changed how we perform our daily work. This will change the way we use cloud platforms as well. The day is not far when we will simply describe our architecture with prompts, AI will figure out what to do and how to do it, and we will just review and deploy by clicking the final and only 'Okay' button. While knowing the underlying workings and manual configuration is beneficial, it might not be as important in the future as it is today.

Once you master the technology like Python/Java and the ways of coding, you would understand the modules or packages used in AI/ML coding and could potentially suggest alternative solutions.

The top threat to today's business are cyber attacks, leading to data breach which will have adverse impact on their reputation, loss of customers to competitors and legal costs. To have a career in cybersecurity one must have 1. Training and experience(5+ years) in networking and security 2. Deep expertise in one of the top vendor(aws, microsoft azure or GCP) solution and offerings. Preferably solution architect and security certs 3. Training and understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements like SOX, PCI, HIPPA, GDPR..e.t.c relavant to the industry one is in 4. Ongoing review and learning of the security threats,methods and tools used by Hackers as well as tools to secure, monitor and protect cloud and on-prem system components

The importance of Cybersecurity within the cloud computing cannot be overemphasized. Security is a joint responsibility between the customer and the Cloud Service Provider. A well architected framework must be used when building a secured cloud architectures. One of the ways we can overcome cyber threats is use of AAA(Authentication, Authorization and Accounting). We must follow information security principles to eliminate vulnerabilities in the cloud. To have a prospective career in the cloud computing you must be vast in compliance regulations and data privacy laws such as GDPR, HIPAA, NDPR.

Automation is revolutionizing cloud management. At NVIDIA, I witnessed how automation could significantly enhance efficiency and reduce human error. In the cloud space, skills in infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing are becoming essential. Focus on learning popular automation tools and scripting languages. The ability to streamline processes and increase operational efficiency through automation will make you an invaluable asset to any cloud team.

Automation allows for consistent and repeatable configurations, ensuring that infrastructure is deployed accurately and reliably. By leveraging IaC, you can define infrastructure using code, making it easier to provision, update, and version-control resources. This approach not only enhances deployment speed but also improves scalability and maintainability. Managing DevOps pipelines involves integrating automated testing, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and monitoring tools to ensure smooth and efficient application delivery. This reduces the time to market for new features and fixes, and helps maintain high quality and reliability in software releases.

Having an eye for inefficiencies is the starting point. And it's not all that difficult: look for areas where human error is costly and/or roles that have high turnover. Also look for areas with high maintenance just to keep the applications running - legacy, proprietary applications and databases are rife with technical debt. There are many methods available to bring efficiencies - process orchestration, tighter component integration, agentic design, migrate to serverless - are some examples.
