2 Research the organization

Before you apply or interview for a job, do some research on the organization you want to work for. Find out their mission, vision, values, goals, and culture. How do they align with your own? How can you contribute to their work and objectives? How do they approach community organizing and engagement? Show that you have done your homework and that you are genuinely interested in working with them.

5 Ask good questions

At the end of the interview, you will likely have an opportunity to ask questions to the interviewer. This is a chance to show your curiosity, your enthusiasm, and your fit for the job. Ask questions that demonstrate your interest in the organization, the role, the community, and the challenges. Avoid questions that are too generic, too personal, or too negative. Prepare some questions in advance, but also be flexible and attentive to the conversation.

6 Follow up

After the interview, don't forget to follow up with a thank you note. Express your gratitude for the opportunity, your interest in the job, and your value as a community organizer. Mention something specific that you discussed or learned during the interview. Keep it brief, professional, and positive. Send it within 24 hours of the interview, and follow up again if you don't hear back within a reasonable time frame.
