Trust is the currency that accelerates communication and deepens the results generated in the coaching relationship. It is a pillar of coaching as described by the ICF. I have enjoyed trusting relationships with patients for almost 20 years as a practicing surgeon prior to becoming a coach. I enjoyed sharing that sacred space as doctor/ patient confidentiality and similar find joy in sharing the trust and confidentiality in the coach/coachee space. Nonnegotiable trust is paramount to the psychological safety needed to be a successful coach.

Trust & Confidentiality are the foundation of coaching practice. As a coach, I have always found value in: -Building a great rapport, and holding a safe & confidential space from the beginning allowing clients to ask any Qs about the practice,& approach. -A clear agreement with what coaching is & is not and space to re-partner allows clients to bring their true selves & focus on objectives. -The genuine connection, energy to serve & give unconditional support allows them to open up & explore their real challenges. - Creating a reflective space for clients to talk about hidden fears & limiting thoughts by balancing honesty with care. Such transparency enhances trust & model behaviour that positively impacts their leadership style. .

I get all my clients from linkedin where I wrote stories. I get mostly some of my silent readers become my clients only because they find my experience shine through my stories and trust too because never ever have they read anything about my Coachees or their cases or their stories or even my sharing any feedback. Trust is a given. I don't spend time in proving. If you have come to me, it means you trust me .. That's about it... RS

Confidentiality with senior execs? Think of it like running a R.A.C.E.—speeding toward trust and safety. Respect: This is your starting block. Without it, the race doesn’t begin. Adhere to ethics: The rules of the race—ICF and APA keep you on track. Create a safe space: The finish line where they feel secure, free to open up. Elevate trust: Cross the line by protecting their vulnerability—it’s a sacred duty. In this R.A.C.E., speed doesn’t matter—what counts is reaching the safe space where trust is earned and protected at every step.

In coaching senior executives, ensuring confidentiality and trust is essential. The Upanishads teach us the values of Satya (truth) and Rta (cosmic order), emphasizing integrity and truthfulness as the basis of all strong relationships. As a coach, one must embody Truth (Satya) by being transparent about confidentiality, creating a safe and supportive space for open dialogue. Trust, as seen in the relationship between Krishna and Arjuna, is built through the unwavering support of a trusted friend. Like Krishna, a coach guides with wisdom and integrity, consistently upholding discretion and trust, fostering a deep, collaborative bond with the executive.
