As a beginner eager to kickstart your programming career, it's good to begin with a low-level programming language like C. Starting with C helps you understand how computers work at a fundamental level. I would always recommend you learn two languages so that you can compare between those two. Personally, I would suggest you start with Java because of its syntax, and then you can choose between Python and JavaScript based on the path you're choosing.

Even though I started out with JavaScript, I would recommend mastering Python first. Having looked through Python lately, I've observed that it's quite readable and beginner-friendly. I have a rather different opinion and as there isn't a section for it, I'm dropping my answer here. Mastering a specific programming language shouldn't be the goal; instead, it should be mastering the art of logical thinking and problem solving. As an example: one can memorize how to write a for loop in every language possible, but this is not going to help much. Rather, the goal must be to know how and where a for loop must be used. Given a specific problem if you can understand how to approach a solution, coding it up in any language is trivial. Another point to consider is: if there's anything specific you want to do - the language decision comes with that itself.

Do you wake up every day and say "If only there was an infuriating mess of a programming language, one with idiosyncracies that will drive me insane?" As a JavaScript developer, I don't because I have long since accepted my fate. Would I recommend mastering JavaScript?
