When I am sitting with my team and identifying the threats, it is like solving a puzzle to decide how critical the threat is. The first step is to look into each of the risks that have been identified in an attempt to try and establish the nature of the risk and the possible consequences that may arise from it. I find myself constantly asking: “What is the risk here? How damaging would it be if this data fell into the wrong hands?” We think about various types of attacks, from a random hacker to a state actor. It can be quite challenging but it has to be done for the sake of ensuring that our organization’s defenses are well prioritized in this ever expanding digital world.
