If you want to reach to more than 1 generation. Use humor. Eg: Center fresh ad is a great example for this Reactions may vary. Some might even feel cringe. Some might feel good. But Everyone will remember you. Another ad I fondly remember is of a Lifebuoy handwash. IS YOUR SOAP SLOW? Humour always works. Even Audi, BMW and Benz uses humor to take on competition. Good ads are not about pandering to an age bracket — it's about delivering a good ad. Pandering turns people off. Stop doing it.

The key to balancing generational appeal is to mix timeless messaging with platform-specific formats. Use universal themes like innovation or community, but tailor visuals and language to match the preferences of each generation. Testing creatives with diverse focus groups can help refine the balance.
-
Use relatable themes: Find common ground that resonates across age groups, like family, friendship, or shared experiences. Leverage nostalgic elements: Incorporate subtle references to iconic moments or trends from the past to connect with older generations while still being relevant to younger ones. Embrace modern humor: Use humor that's universally understood and avoids overly dated or offensive jokes. Offer something for everyone: Include a variety of content, such as visual storytelling, music, or interactive elements, to cater to different preferences. Use inclusive language: Avoid stereotypes and ensure your message is welcoming to all audiences.
-
When targeting multiple generations, focus on shared values rather than trying to speak to each group separately – a successful campaign resonates across the board by tapping into universal themes like connection. Whether it's humor or nostalgia, the key is capturing attention through emotions that transcend age brackets.
