To unite your team's diverse objectives under the umbrella of the company vision, begin by clearly communicating the vision and its importance to the team's mission. Facilitate discussions that connect individual goals to the broader company objectives, emphasizing how each team member's contributions drive the vision forward. Encourage collaboration by creating cross-functional teams aligned on shared goals, fostering a sense of ownership and accountability. Regularly revisit the vision during team meetings to reinforce alignment and motivation. By cultivating a shared understanding and commitment to the company vision, you can foster a cohesive team that collaborates toward common objectives.

The key to getting everyone on the same page is to rally them under a common vision - in this case, the company's vision. Start by clearly articulating what that vision is and why it matters. Encourage open communication among team members so they can see how their individual goals align with the bigger picture. By fostering a sense of unity and purpose, you'll be able to bring your scattered goals together and move forward as a cohesive team.

Goals become scattered when the vision and strategy are not aligned at the top. Short-term do’s; 1. Stop working and organize. Call in departmental leadership and above. 2. Are there three clear strategic goals for the entire organization? If not, create. 3. Do departmental, team, and internal organizational goals drive the overarching measures of success, “KPI,” at the top? If not, realign. 4. Does every leading measure tracked, create a positive outcome, “what is measured is what gets done.” if not you’re tracking the unimportant. 5. Can the employee tell if they are winning or losing on their scorecard when the goals are clear? If not, remove or change. Keep going…????

The north star of goal setting is the business plan. But goals are only one thing, the drivers to achieve those goals are as important. Goals should be structured and geared toward reaching the objectives and outcomes laid out in the business plan. The business plan provides information about revenue, costs, other targets, and the resources available to achieve them. Consequently, the business plan is the ideal framework to calibrate goals and the drivers, i.e. people, expenses, and investments needed to achieve them. The business plan is foundational for every review of goals. Those reviews serve only one purpose, to check whether we are on track to realize our plan, whether we can continue with what we are doing or need to correct course.
