Your team's communication is struggling. How can you use team building workshops to fix it?

Problem with few people is that they suddenly jump in to the details and start explaining all details of all steps without travelling from a High level picture -> next level details -> further details on each parent step.... This really confuses people. It is very much required to 1. First give a overview of the topic 2. Break down the topic in to fewer steps 3. Explain each step with some detail and connect the end to end dots 4. Then, go to next level and start explaining all the if and buts This will ensure that people always have a mental picture about the overall subject and place the details at each bucket correctly...!

In my experience, conducting a workshop that encourages and eases out open and honest feedback , experience and expectation from each other is a great way to understand what is to be focused on. Also giving teams opportunity to play role of one another as a part of activity is a great way to see themselves in other’s shoes . Empathy is an essential element to have a solid communication and also to understand when we just have to sometime listen to others to understand the perspective better .

Team building workshops, in my opinion, didn't function well since there was a lack of communication within the group. Instead, you might involve the group in a side project, give each member specific tasks to complete, and make it obvious that everyone's cooperation would be necessary to reach the goal and that the group's collective effort would determine the outcome.

This is not a rocket science, as manager you need to connect with people with humbleness, trueness and selflessness. You go to daily work with clear thoughts in mind how to complete it task the way it is directed by manager, not with confusion in mind. Clarity in communication is the best way to get the productivity at its peak.Manager some time may have to over communicate instead of micro managing it.

Firstly, we need to check whether our communication lines are sufficient: right time, right person, right inf to the team. Secondly, we should identify and rank the top 5 (for example) common concerns and find the root causes. This includes somehow abt personal emotions that our team may face. Thirdly, sharing the team our findings and solutions (except specific personal reasons). Openly align the team on the same page.

As a manager it is important to foster a culture of constructive feedback. To begin with one needs to identify specific communication challenges within the team then identify team building workshops that improve communication as a primary goal. DON'T do the cringe sensitivity training that you saw Steve Carell do on the office! DO boost communication with impromptu, one on one, and select group communication sessions. Your team cant always read between the lines of your corporate communication and where it's actually coming from. Explain WHY you are pushing for a particular communication strategy. Take time to integrate your team's concerns & suggestion into the grand strategy. Don't shut your team down by insisting on a certain pathway blindly. Its only when everyone understands WHY, agrees how, and feels supported in the process that they will become CONFIDENT to follow through. In most cases, it's not a competence issue, but a confidence and morale issue that is the real block!

Meaning that most team members are unable to even express themselves properly, or even receiving communication properly. - Training about self-branding as to boost self-esteem and self-confidence which the lack of can hinge better communication. - Product knowledge workshop or daily quiz to ensure that they are well equipped in order to effectively communicate

It's important to stress that each one of us has a unique communication style and that the purpose of the workshop isn't to judge each others' styles. Just like how some people speak French and others speak Japanese, the goal is to learn our teammates' "languages" to increase understanding amongst the team.

Es importante que la sesión sea fructífera. Para ello al finalizar la misma se pueden proponer mejoras o compromisos en grupo que sean viables y coherentes con los valores, cultura y plan de comunicación. Estos se tendrían que recoger en un rotafolio o pizarra para ser visibles a todos los participantes y mediante algún sistema se podrían votar las iniciativas que más agradan. Después se puede crear una comisión para realizar el plan de acción de las propuestas ganadoras y poner fecha para su implantación. De esta forma a través de una sesión de teambuilding y entre todos se despliegan unas acciones para mejorar la comunicación de equipos y la organización.

When addressing team communication issues, I believe one of the main things we need to consider is the scope. Imagine there is an icebreaker session organized, and a few questions are related to personal things. People might enjoy the session, the outcome can be very effective, but there can be scenarios where the information is used for other things that are definitely not acceptable. Therefore, when adapting these types of methods, we need to consider defining the scope.

When teams are in formation phase the role of team building workshops becomes essential to develop strong bonds and know each other better. Also, it helps to prepare the team to identify the personality traits that will help them to navigate the storming phase, understanding the team dynamics and being aware of the personality traits that drive team's interactions what leds to manage it with more emotional intelligence.

Any team needs to work on a vision Strategy or at a min goals and objectives. The alignment of the team towards collective vision and common goal makes everyone communicate effectively and work together. Team members need to have time for knowing each other beyond work and maintain cordial relations. The success or any achievement must be celebrated as team success rather than individual success. No man of the match awards and only team awards and recognition. Empathy towards others is also important to appreciate and understand others difficulties, perspective and approach. Overall bad communication has to be analysed for root cause and corrective action must be taken so it doesn't reoccur.

In my experience most of the time the lack of communication is cause by lack of trust. So it is critically important to make all the team feel this place as a secure place to work within and the clearly define team targets. Most of the time, major problem is not to have a common vision and business target within the teams. I am working as a certified coach any in my previous teams I experienced team coaching and get very positive outcomes. So it could be a good resource to use team coaching in such cases. I strongly recommend all leaders to develop their coaching skillsets as well.

Luckly Core team members were able to communicate in English . Before 5 session team building Meet , all 6-7 Team lead of Client , EPC & EPC agreed for Only 5 Goals of Mega Project . We invited a Spiritual Guru For opening and as a Moderator for entire 1& half days and around 175 team Members participated . Project ran well . Project commissioning was Flawless , below budget with some delay.
