Creativity is essential for any team that wants to solve problems, improve processes, or generate new ideas. However, sometimes your team may feel stuck, bored, or frustrated with the same old approaches. How can you help your team overcome these barriers and unleash their creative potential? Here are some tips to spark innovation in your team.
One of the reasons why your team may struggle to find creative solutions is that they are too attached to their existing beliefs, habits, or expectations. These assumptions can limit your team's ability to see new possibilities, question the status quo, or experiment with different options. To challenge your assumptions, you can use techniques such as brainstorming, reverse thinking, or asking "what if" questions. Finally, brainstorming activities, such as "Yes, and..." exercises, can help to generate new ideas and get the team thinking in new ways.
Another way to boost your team's creativity is to seek diverse perspectives from different sources. You can invite people from other teams, departments, or backgrounds to join your discussions, share their insights, or provide feedback. You can also expose your team to different cultures, industries, or domains to broaden their horizons and learn from best practices. By seeking diverse perspectives, you can help your team discover new angles, connections, or opportunities that they may have overlooked.
Allow your team to do what they love and provide time for that, genuinely. They will definitely surprise you with unconventional & innovative ideas. Physicist Richard Feynman was known for his unorthodox ways of connecting natural experiences with physical experiments. His fascination for gardening led to quantum parallelism, his love for playing Bongos led to quantum computing. Most of the times, we get our most innovative ideas & solutions when we don't deliberately look for them. Brainstorming with your team will certainly get you good ideas, but giving it a break will get you the best ideas. So try not to try.

Creative experimentation play a vital role when you are either re-iterating upon your product or traditional concepts are no more helpful in your growth strategy. This scenario can be seen very often when there are too many product solving same problem statement. An out-of-the-box marketing campaign experimentation or supporting your team to brainstorm/innovate around differentiated solution for the problem rather than traditional approaches showcases a high probability for growth.

A culture of innovation can help your team feel inspired, engaged, and empowered to share their ideas, take risks, and collaborate. To foster a culture of innovation, you can use strategies such as setting a clear vision, communicating expectations, providing resources, and rewarding innovation.
In a digital and telecommunications company, fostering a culture of innovation is crucial for staying ahead in a rapidly evolving industry. Just like in any other field, creating an environment where employees feel empowered to think creatively and take calculated risks can lead to breakthrough solutions and improved services. Engage with the team on what sparks their creativity at an individual level Based on that find common ground and avail cues that could spark their creativity. That could be taking them to places that ignite their innovative juices
A sixth and final tip to spark innovation in your team is to keep learning and growing. Learning and growing are essential for your team's creativity, as they can help your team acquire new knowledge, skills, and experiences. Learning and growing can also help your team cope with change, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals. To keep learning and growing, you can use opportunities such as training, mentoring, or networking. These opportunities can help your team expand their capabilities, network, and potential.
Within teams I've managed, I've used an 'Ideas Bank' process. A weekly brainstorm session for the entire team to test and bounce ideas off one another (prepared concepts with references are preferred). This freewheeling 2 hour session is a way to get the creative juices flowing. The outputs of this session are banked in an 'Ideas Bank' drive folder and logged and categorised per month/ product/ campaign idea. It's a great way to foster collaboration and kickstart creative thinking in a way that is not time pressured or focused on the campaign at hand.
Fomentar la creatividad y la colaboración en el equipo son factores esenciales para desarrollar la innovación y conseguir los objetivos empresariales fijados. Para lograrlo, en mi opinión, es muy positivo trabajar en favor de un ambiente de confianza y confortabilidad que facilite la puesta en común de diferentes ideas y puntos de vista (brainstorming, pensamiento lateral, design thinking, etc.) entre los miembros del equipo. Para ello, se debe dotar al equipo del tiempo y los recursos que necesiten, además de asegurar una comunicación transparente y clara entre todos miembros del equipo. Finalmente, siempre se deben reconocer y celebrar los éxitos conseguidos con este proceso continuo que es la innovación.
