Your team is struggling with critical bugs. How can you convince stakeholders to prioritize fixing them?
When critical bugs threaten your project's integrity, it's crucial to communicate their impact effectively to stakeholders. To persuade them:
- Illustrate the risks. Use data to show how bugs can negatively affect user experience and revenue.
- Leverage customer feedback. Present real examples of customer complaints to highlight the urgency.
- Propose a clear plan. Outline actionable steps and timelines for resolving issues to build confidence in your strategy.
How do you approach stakeholder conversations about critical issues? Share your strategies.

Convincing the stakeholders with the impact of bug is not an easy task. It require good planning and presentation. We can follow below to convince the stakeholders: 1) Data: Bring exact data and show them how actually it can affect the user experience and performance. 2) Risk: Prepare some risk analysis report and share to stake holders to make sure they are aware of risk of deploying the code with bug. 3) Future plan: Be ready with future plan to avoid these kinds of issue. 4) Clearly define who can work and how much will be required to retest them along with regression.

Picture this: you're in the middle of a sprint, the team is energized, and a bug appears. It could take a few minutes to fix—or drag on for days, leaving everyone frustrated. This unpredictability disrupts the flow and can lead to delays in releasing new features. When bugs linger, they create uncertainty that impacts the entire team’s efficiency. I’ve noticed that when stakeholders understand how fixing these bugs clears the way for smoother development, they’re more likely to focus on them. A clean codebase enhances our ability to estimate timelines, making future development much more manageable.
