In my experience leading a large team of people with varying level of personal ambitions, it’s important to get their focus on the bigger picture- the purpose, vision, the overall goals of the team. That gives them clarity on how they can contribute to that in their own way and leveraging their strengths. I’ve also had conversations with team members on what their personal goals are, and how helping them grow can contribute to the overall team goals. This is a great way for anyone to understand their value proposition, which is a very helpful way to gain confidence in their abilities and what they do.
