Chat with them openly in a safe space and understand why there is resistance. Explain the bigger picture in the context of the upcoming change (if there is no context, there should not be a reason for the change). Then align the thoughts by explaining what is in for "them". Support them with the needed.
-
Often times the resistance ot change project scope/timelines stems from lack of visibility to the eventual impact the change would bring about. Start by not assuming that they see the world as you see it, and then - 1. Detailing exactly why you see it as important to change 2. Assuring that there's enough thought process that went behind this change and it wouldn't be fluid anymore 3. Offering help with adjusting to the change. Team shall see you more of a partner in the journey rather than a reason for disruption.
-
Try to convince them by showing statistics and facts of the scope. Practical numbers always speaks louder. Show them impact analysis. Make them comfortable with the changes, offer support, arrange knowledge transfers and trainings if needed. Always welcome retros and feedbacks. Celebrate every success as a team success, recognise the great work. Appreciate your teammates for their efforts and time.

To get your team on board with changes in project scope and timelines, start by communicating the reasons behind the changes clearly and transparently. Involve them in discussions to gather their input and address any concerns. Highlight the benefits of the adjustments for both the project and the team. Offering support, whether through additional resources or training, can also ease the transition. Finally, foster an open environment where feedback is encouraged, reinforcing that adaptability is a key part of the team's success.
